Building modifications of a family house on na Bělidle street in Ostrava
The reconstruction of a family house from the 1930s in an attractive location near Komenského sady in Ostrava aimed to unite the originally two-generation house into a single residential unit and increase the comfort of family living. The design emphasizes a seamless connection between the interior and the garden – a key element is the addition of a terrace and the installation of sliding doors in place of the original windows, creating a contemporary variation on French windows with safety railings. Opening up the layout, mainly by connecting the kitchen with the living room, contributed to a more airiness and spatial continuity in the living area. The building was insulated, and minor structural modifications were made to increase user comfort and the natural light, while respecting the original architecture and structure of the house.
